Watch for a fun activity table set up in the Children’s Library where you can learn to count your money, practice buying things, and much more. Registration is not required.

This is an annual favorite!  Join us for a hearty party. We’ll have all the supplies to help you make valentines for those you love. Ages 3 years and older.

2nd Annual Great Family Egg Drop
Tuesday, March 19, 4-5 p.m.
We’ll give each family the same supplies (different from last year) to build a contraption for a raw egg and then those eggs will be dropped from various heights.  Will your egg survive?  Grades K and higher.

Archaeology Detectives:  An Intro to Archaeology for Kids!

Learn all about what archaeologists do, the tools they use, where they can work, and how YOU can become one!  Then take your new archaeology skills and excavate your own tasty archaeology site.  Grades 1 through 5.

Join astrophysicist Kevin Manning, a former consultant with NASA, for a journey through the universe that will conclude with a viewing of the heavens through his telescope. Ages 8 years and older.  Adults who wish to attend must register and attend with a child or teen.
 
"Bring Your Child to the Library" Day

Join us for a day  of fun! No registration required!
10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Puzzles, a trivia game that can earn you a small prize, a coloring activity, a guessing game, and more.

In 2013 Florida will celebrate its 500th anniversary and the Children’s Library will be presenting a program on the third Thursday of each month from January through May.  Each month we will visit a special Florida location with stories, songs, activities and crafts.

March Challenge- Find “Barry Books” the Library Leprechaun
Visit the Children’s Department any day in March and try to find “Barry Books” the Library Leprechaun!  If you spot him, you get a prize and an entry into the grand prize drawing.  You can enter each day, because Barry will change his location. Ages 0-14 years. Registration is not required.

*Civil War Reenactment (1861 – 1864)    
Saturday and Sunday, January 12 & 13, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Learn about Florida’s involvement in the Civil War by visiting live history presentations, watch the Battles of Gopher Hill and Ft. Myers as they are being reenacted and see displays of civil war memorabilia. This is an educational and fun event for the whole family.

Reading Patch Club
Monday, January 14 through Friday, May 17
Join the club! Students in grades K through 5 who are reading on their own can earn colorful embroidered patches for reading.  Can you collect all four patches?
To earn a patch, read 5 books in each category – Choose books from our Reading Patch Club lists or choose your own.  All books must be library books.  Patches will be awarded as they are earned.  Just bring the reading log to the South Regional Library when a category is completed.  There are a total of 4 patches to earn.

We’ll prepare a variety of valentine crafts for that special someone including an edible one just for you.  Ages 2-6 years. 

Spring Egg Hunt
Tuesday, March 26, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Make a cute bunny container to use during the hunt.  Then follow everyone outside to the courtyard where we will search for plastic treasures.  Ages 2-6 years.  .

Visit to the Fire Station
Tuesday, April 23, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
A real fireman will read us a story and we’ll make a fire safety craft.  Then we will walk over to the North Naples Fire Station for a tour and an up-close view of a real fire truck. Ages 4-8 years.

Viva Florida Celebration - Calusa Indians
Tuesday, May 7, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Come celebrate Florida’s 500 year anniversary with an Everglades National Park ranger, who will help us commemorate Florida’s heritage with historical facts, activities and a fun clay craft.  Grades K through 5.
