Library cards are available to all residents of Collier County. Cards are free to permanent residents and property owners, and available for a fee to seasonal residents and visitors (see below).

Library cards can be obtained from any library in the library system. Personal identification with your current Collier County street address is required. Parent or legal guardian's signature is required on a minor's (under 16) library card.

PROOF OF RESIDENCY

Proof of residency must be presented when applying for, renewing, or replacing cards. Any of the following are acceptable as proof of residency, provided the item shows your current street address:

  • Driver's license
  • Collier County property tax receipt
  • voter's registration card
  • State of Florida identification card
  • property deed or mortgage/lease agreement
  • utility bill
  • bank check with imprinted name and address
  • vehicle registration
  • local telephone directory listing

Library cards are available to non-resident County visitors for a fee of $10 per month, $50 for 6 months, or $100 for 12 months. Personal identification with permanent home address is required; local address may be confirmed verbally.

CHARGES

There is no charge for the initial library card. A $1 fee is assessed to replace a damaged or lost card. Card holders are responsible for notifying the Library immediately if the card is lost or stolen. A patron must clear his or her account in full before a library card is reissued.

PRIVACY

Library policy prohibits staff from releasing any information about library users, including what materials are checked out or overdue and personal information such as telephone numbers and addresses, to anyone other than to the specific library card holder. (Florida Statute 257.261).

CHILDREN'S LIBRARY CARDS

A child is eligible for a library card at birth. Parents are encouraged to register their children for a library card before the child enters kindergarten. The child must be present in the library to receive or use his or her card.

Parent or legal guardian's signature is required on a minor's (under 16) library card.

Parents must given written permission for their children to borrow PC and PG-13 videos.

Young adults, age 16 or older, with identification, may obtain their own cards.
