As we think back to our school days, we remember tales of the pioneers and how families moved west to find more opportunities and a better life. Some of those pioneers even moved south to settle here in what became Collier County. Wherever people moved, they started the churches, schools and other elements of "civilization" they had become accustomed to using.

The Friends of the Library are holding a Pre-Gala concert and Gala Dinner events marking the 50th anniversary of the Friends of the Library.

50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS:
50th Birthday celebrations for the Library were held this winter in Everglades City at the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas Festival, and at the Marco Island Branch, Naples Regional, and Headquarters Regional Libraries. Each celebration featured food, live music, and the reading of a dedicatory poem by local poet and graphic designer Ruth Kuttler.
